Best Learning Apps of 2021

The tablet or what some parents call the babysitter is a gift and a curse. When Nori was 1, she was gifted with 2 Amazon tablets for Christmas. She was not into that much and hardly used them. It was more of a way to watch movies on Netflix and Disney Plus while traveling. She soon took a liking to me and my husband’s phone. We downloaded more learning apps and she became obsessed with it on long rides or while traveling. I didn’t let her use it much while we were at home. Like most parents I wasn’t sure what was the right amount of time for screen time. When she turned 2, we decided to purchase her an iPad for Christmas which I must say was a great investment. I monitor her screen time and all the activities and games she plays. Instead of looking it the tablet as all bad set boundaries that work best for you and below are some of my favorite apps that Nori enjoys!

The Noggin Preschool Learning app is subscription based costing $7.99 per month. I love the math literacy components, puzzles and other creative components to help master the colors. It also has your child's favorite Nick Jr. characters.

The Khan Academy Kids app is completely free and best for ages 2-8. The app is full of so many educational and fun activities that teach reading, language, writing, math, social-emotional development, problem solving skills, and even motor development.

The Homer Learn & Grow app is another app perfect for ages 2-3. I love it because it personalized and focuses on Nori's strengths and weaknesses.

The Elmo Loves 123s Lite app is a FREE preview of the full version app. This is best in my opinion for children between the ages of 1-3. It teaches numbers 1-20, tracing the numbers, coloring pages and so much more. The full version is $4.99 per month.

The PBS KIDS Games app is great for ages 2-8. This is app is full of math, science, reading and creative games! It also has many of your child's favorite PBS characters.

The Starfall ABCs app is great for learning the ABCs. The fun interactive game is perfect for your child!

The Kids Games! Learning 4 Toddler app is Nori's favorite and I love it too! There is a monthly subscription fee but it is worth it. It teaches her shapes and sizes, colors, puzzles, creative games, fun games and everything you can think of to get your little on track for Kindergarten!

This last item is not an app but a perfect item to protect your child's eyes. It is recommended for children ages 3-9. The Blue Light Glasses protect your child's eyesight while playing on the tablet or even playing the video game.
